Construction work, Southeast Rotunda Access

The currently ongoing construction work of the southeast rotunda entrance was initiated in order to replace the revolving doors that were difficult to operate as well as install new granite staircase in replacement of the damaged concrete ones.  During this process, we discovered in the revolving door, more damages on the structural columns and on the concrete mainly caused by corrosion. These additional and unforeseen repairs have postponed the date of completion until the end of February, 2016.

Two Quebecers have initiated a viral movement inviting fellow Quebecers to forget their books in public places from September 8 to 14, with the intention of promoting literature in addition to having their favorite books discovered. People who discover these willingly forgotten books are invited to do the same while adding a short note describing how the movement works.

Stop Motion is a kinetic installation which uses changes in lighting and in perspectives to play with the architecture, essentially producing a moving sculpture. Located at the heart of Le 1000's entrance lobby, where commuters and light converge, this installation features reflecting plates cascading from the sky to freeze into a constellation of intriguing objects once they reach the ground.
